Design One Day Spa

I was very happy with Design 1 (Grandville) for my bridal hair and makeup. Jessica was my hairstylist and she did a fantastic job. The updo is exactly what I had in mind and had explained to her. I would recommend doing a hair trial though... I had one and the updo turned out great, but then I went out to our ceremony location where it was VERY windy and some of it fell out. So on the wedding day I made sure Jessica did the exact same hair style only with more bobby pins and hair spray. It turned out perfect and lasted all day! My bridesmaids also all had their hair done. A couple of them weren't thrilled with their updo, claiming it wasn't quite what they had described to their stylist. Overall though I thought they all looked beautiful though! The prices are a bit high, but the salon/spa is very nice and trendy. They also let us bring in breakfast food and mimosas which was nice. I had my makeup done by one of their "Aura Skincare" beauticians and I was very happy with the results!

I had my hair and make-up done at Design one in Kentwood. Make-up was done by Dana, she did a fabulous job. It was exactly how I wanted it! Courtney did my hair and also did an awesome job, it looked perfect! She helped me design a hair piece to match my dress and it looked absolutely amazing! I love Design one!!

We used Design One in Grandville. Zoey did my hair and she was amazing! (She always is!) I was happy with my makeup; though make sure you do a trail run, because the trial run didn't look so hot. More David Bowie glam rock/Rocky Horror. But for the wedding everyone looked great. Also I wore my slippers there and they got wet in the rain, Melissa went out and got me a new set! (Thank you so much!) One girl in my group has been a bridesmaid a few times and said that this was the best place she has ever been to. (And they slightly burned her forehead with a curling iron!) All of the girls had up-do's, I had short hair so mine was just down. And the mother's left theirs down too. But everyone looked really nice. And it really helped for the pictures.

I got my bridal makeup and updo done at Design 1 in Grandville. Leighann did a wonderful job with my updo; I got many, many compliments on how wonderful it looked. We did a trial run a couple weeks before so the day of she knew exactly how I wanted my hair. It was perfect. The rest of my bridal party and some of my family got their hair done also, and they were all very pleased. I also loved the way my make up turned out. It was a mineral based make up which worried me a little, but it held up though the day nicely. I do think the salon is a bit pricey, but I always come back there for special occasions and have never been let down. We were encouraged to bring mimosas and food to enjoy throughout the morning, and we did so. I highly recommend Design 1 to any bride and bridal party.

Everyone was so helpful and my hair and makeup turned out perfect. My bridesmaids loved their "do's" as well! They had a little room in the back so we could enjoy breakfast as we waited for everyone to get done. They did great!

Design 1 did a great job accommodating my wedding party. Mandy did a fabulous job on my hair. I explained in a few words what I was looking for and she was able to read my mind and do my hair exactly how I had imaged it. Lisa also did an amazing job transforming not only me but also 4 others in the wedding. She was even able to squeeze in one of my bridesmaids late minute to ensure everyone was able to get the services they wanted. In addition to hair in makeup, I also got a message and my nails/toes done. Everything was done flawlessly. They truly made myself and the bridal party relaxed and stunning on my big day!

Design 1 was amazing. They made everything so relaxing before and on my wedding day. I was so happy with the pedicure and for the makeup job they did on me, it looked amazing, I received so many compliments. I felt so special and beautiful.

I chose Design 1 b/c it was close to my house (we used the Plainfield location) and b/c we wanted to have hair and makeup done at the same location. I didn't have a regular hair dresser, so I was assigned to one that I met a month prior to the wedding for a trial updo. Alexis F did a FANTASTIC job, listened to what I wanted, followed the picture and made a few suggestions as well. She was very easy to talk to and very friendly & professional. I also had Ashley P do my makeup - yet another person who was friendly, warm, professional & easy going. Both of them made me feel beautiful on the day of my wedding, as well as the rest of my wedding party! We were able to take champagne & OJ to make mimosas in the salon that morning, and they mailed me a print out of all the ladies in my wedding party, their stylists & appointment times. I was also contacted a few days before to make sure there were no changes. Be careful - if you have someone back out of having their hair or makeup done, the salon requires a 24-hour notice! If they are not given a notice (which happened in my case, I didn't know my step-MIL wasn't going to be there & she had an appt!) they will charge you for the service regardless! Otherwise, the day started off very well!

I love Design One. Ashley is my stylist and she took the time to work on several different versions of what would become my wedding hair style. I recieved many compliments and now some of my friends go to the salon for haircuts/color. Chris applied my make-up and even though it was more that I normally wear (which is nothing), it looked amazing and turned out prefectly in my pictures. My maid of honor had her hair done and it was beautiful. The best of all- the hair styles lasted all night!

I actually went to the Design One Spa on Plainfield Ave. in Plainfield Township, which is an affiliate of the other location. I have extremely fine, thin, hair and was worried that an updo was an impossibility for me, even though that was what I really wanted. For that reason, I made an appointment for a trial updo beforehand, and I was so happy with the result. The minor problematics at the trial appointment (about $50) were apparent, so the day of, it turned out perfectly. I saw Alexis, and was so impressed with her talent that I now go to her for all of my hair cuts and highlights, etc. The staff is very accomodating, and they will go the extra mile to be sure you are happy with the results. I got so many compliments and felt so beautiful, which is how you should feel on your wedding day. I also scheduled a mani/pedi there a few days before with my MOH and we both had great service. This place comes highly recommended from me.

I had my bridal makeup done at Design One and was extremely impressed. I purchased the powder and lip gloss they used that day and they are still my favorite products!

I had received a $150 "half-day" gift certificate for Christmas prior to my wedding. I ended up spending another $25 after using the entire gift certificate. I had these services performed the morning/early afternoon of my wedding: -Massage -Facial w/ extraction -Nails -Hair Cut & Wedding Styling w/ my veil -Professional Makeup It took an hour and a half longer than expected and I made them not wash my hair before cutting to save the additional drying time and because I had washed it 4 hours prior. My bridesmaids were driving 95+ mph to get me to the ceremony on time. I literally had less than 5 minutes to get dressed before the ceremony started. The services were excellent, I still feel that I looked my best ever on my wedding day. However, plan an extra 2 hours on top of any time quote for "half day" services and plan extra time to eat lunch. I had my bridesmaids bring me a sub sandwich at the salon which I inhaled before getting my makeup done.

Worth the drive out. Very good team of girls that did exactly what we asked.
